BREAKING NEWS: Broncos Dump Henry

As I was musing on the possibility of Selvin Young breaking 2,000 yards last night. It did not cross my mind that Travis Henry would be cut in a couple of hours.

Here's Shanahan:

"We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team," coach Mike Shanahan said in a written statement.

"Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl," Shanahan said.

Former Denver Broncos receiver Javon Walker accused Shanahan of forcing players to play while hurt. This may be the reason why Shanahan cut Henry prior to training camp, with Henry sitting out the entire Quarter Back Camp over the last two weeks. It may be for another reason, with the league (as of June 1st) fining teams for player conduct, maybe there's something that we don't know. However, we will assume, given Henry's past.

So where does this leave Denver at running back? Well, pretty much the same as the blog I posted this morning, Selvin Young, Andre Hall, Michael Pittman, Ryan Torain and now Anthony Aldridge (whom will most likely still be a practice squad member for the 2009 season). We are, however, one step closer to my Andre Hall prediction for 2009.
